My best day in Whistler

Last Sunday was my best day ever in my Whistler adventure. I went skiing on Whistler mountain taking many photos with my camera and then I posted them on Facebook.

At 3 p.m. I came back to school to meet my new Brazilian friend Thainà and a new girl from the French part of Switzerland, Audrey. We met each other at school and we went to eat delicious, enormous hamburgers in the Market Place.

I had a lot of fun during these hours spent with my new friends. While we were speaking about our country traditions, we suddenly saw a brochure indicating that in the evening there will be a fire-ski show with fireworks at 7 p.m. For 2 hours we were walking  around the village for shopping, eating ice-cream and making selfies together in front of Christmas-lit trees.

We went to the show where I took wonderful pictures while the showmen were ski-jumping and snowboarding.

Finally we went to take our bus to go home and have dinner.

Toronto is awesome

My name is Alice.  I’m from Brazil and I decided to visit Toronto to improve my English.  I have been here almost 2 months now and although it is a short time, it was enough for me to get in love with the city and the school.  There were lots of things that made my days better while I’m staying far away from my family, friends and country.  Now I am going to talk about some of my experiences which I liked the most.

Toronto is a multi cultural city and this really called my attention because it makes me feel more comfortable during my days here.  There are such an amazing places to visit and if you enjoy to try different meals, so you are in the right place.  Also, Toronto has an impressive transport system, the TTC helped me a lot when I have to go somewhere.  It is very different from Brazil’s system, so I really got dazzled.  I can’t talk about Toronto without saying about the shopping malls.  These city has such an amazing and huge places where you can go shopping.  Actually, if I hadn’t done it that much, I would have studied more.

At Tamwood, I’ve met good friends and teachers, who are always making my days better and easier.  I really hope that after I go back to Brazil we’ll keep in touch.

Hiking Heaven at Whistler

By Marianna Cherniuk,

Hi, I’m Tomo from Japan. I came to Canada in April, lived in Vancouver for four months and moved to Whistler in August to enjoy the summer mountains and skiing in winter. Whistler has a lot of beautiful lakes and mountains. You can enjoy the outdoor activities through the year. I like hiking in the mountains, so Whistler is hiking heaven for me.

I have been to a lot of hiking places for three months, let me introduce you some of them.

Russet Lake is 14 km distance from Whistler village center. You have two ways to get there, one is taking the gondola and walking, the other is just walking. Both ways are very difficult to hike. But once you arrive at the lake, you can enjoy seeing the great glacier, especially, Cheakamus glacier which has a wide ice field, you will be amazed by its scale.

This is the Wedge lake, the most beautiful lake which I have ever been to in Canada. The end part of trail was so steep to climb up, but I can see the beautiful lake and mountains. The glacier was also awesome. My heart was fulfilled with the achievement.

We students went to the Panorama lake. We sometimes have recreations after class. We divided the students to two groups, fast walking group and slow walking group. Finally, slow walking group arrived there thirty minutes later, we enjoyed taking pictures, eating snacks and drinking around there.

This is my favorite place in Whistler. I often go there when I want to relax. I bring snacks and coffee to enjoy the time. And you also can see the panorama view. If you go there in the summer, you can be lying on the grass and feeling the cool breeze. If you go there in fall, you can see the beautiful fall leaves.
