Comments: Tamwood...! WOOOOOOW! What can I say about my time there?! I don't think I'll have enough space here!, but I'll try!

Everything started after I have chosen Vancouver to study and live for a while, so my travel agency highly recommended me about a very good professional school where I could be able to develop my English skills and have the whole support of the staff. The counselor for Portuguese and Spanish speakers is Mr. Santiago Endara (soccer lover just like me!). From the moment that I entered there on my first day I already could realize that i was about to have a greeeeat time! Really cool atmosphere! In my opinion one of the strong points is the "mix" that I could find over there, I mean... Italians, Swiss, Spaniards, Germans, French, Mexicans, Belgians, Saudis, Russians, Asians... summarizing; it was possible to know a bit of different cultures and of course make new friends and hang out for a beer on the famous pub nights!!! :D

I did the "study and work" program, where I studied there for 6 months (5 on the General English and 1 on the Business English) and after, the school (Ms. Connie Ip) was in charge to help me find a job... guess what?! They helped me to get a job for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games! How huge is that?! Incredible!!! Honestly I had the best experience ever and my life would be very different if I've never had come. It has changed my life!

I can't forget to say how wonderful and kind are the teachers there! so patient and funny! And the classes are not boring at all! Even the grammar!! It's hard to believe!!! heheheheh!

I also spent an awesome time after the classes, in the "afternoon activities"... where every afternoon there's something nice to do / go! For me it was a great opportunity to make friends and exploring this amazing city!!!

After my graduation, while I was working, I kept going there, once in a while, to see very good friends (including teachers and staff) and of course to play some pool!!!

I'll never forget the time that I had there! And believe me, the time flies soooo fast!

Tamwood...! WOOOOOOW! O que dizer sobre o meu tempo la?! Acho que nao terei espaco suficiente aqui! rsrsrsrsr! Mas tentarei!

Tudo comecou depois que escolhi Vancouver para morar e entao minha agencia de viagem me recomendou sobre uma escola muito boa e bem profissional onde eu poderia desenlver meu ingles e ainda ter todo o suporte do staff da escola, para os latinos americanos e o Santiago Endara (amante do futebol, como eu!). Do momento que eu entrei la no meu primeiro dia eu ja pude perceber que eu estava prestes a passar uma temporada maravilhosa! O ambiente eh muito bom! Na minha opiniao o ponto forte e o "mix" que eu pude encontrar la, quero dizer... mexicanos, italianos, espanhois, alemaes, franceses, belgas, arabes, russos, asiaticos... resumindo; fo possivel conhecer um pouco sobre diferentes culturas e claro faze muitos amigos e sair para tomar uma cerveja nas "noites no bar"!!!

Eu fiz o programa "estudo e trabalho", onde u estudei la por 6 meses (5 no Ingles Geral e 1 no Ingles de Negocios) e depois a escola (Connie Ip) ficou encarregada de me ajudar a encontrar um trabalho... e adivinhem?! Eles me ajudaram a conseguir um trabalho para trabalhar nos Jogos Olimpicos de Inverno 2010! O quanto imenso e isso?! Honestamente eu tive a melhor experiencia da minha vida e minha vida seria muito diferente se eu nunca tivesse vindo. Mudou minha vida!

Nao posso esquecer de dizer o quanto maravilhosos e legais sao os professores! Tao pacientes e divertidos! e as aulas nao sao nada chatas! Nem gramatica! Dificil de acreditar! heheheheh!

Eu ainda tive incriveis momentos depois das aulas com as "atividades vespertinas"... onde toda tarde tinha algo para fazer / ir! Para mim foi uma boa oportunidade para fazer amigos, explorando essa incrivel cidade!!! \o/

Depois de alguns meses de graduado eu ainda continuo indo la, vez e outra, para rever bons amigos (incluindo professores e staff) e claro para jogar sinuca!!!!!

Comments: I was able to make so many good memories while I was studying at Tamwood. Even though I went a couple of ESL schools for trial lessons, I couldn't find any schools which have such international environment as Tamwood has. I decided to go Tamwood, because I determined to enjoy English speaking life and to make foreign friends as many as possible during in Canada. Because I studied at Tamwood, I could make friends from Swiss, France, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Belgium, Spain, Brazil, Columbia, Mexico, Korea and Czech. This is way more than I expected. Additionally, every Tamwood teacher and staff was kind and friendly and they consider of individual student's study seriously. I gain good English skills and memories at Tamwood, even though I studied only for 4 moths. If I have another chance to study English, I definitely come back to Tamwood. Hola a todos, es un placer para mí tratar de describir la gran experiencia que estoy teniendo en Canadá. Antes de venir aquí, estaba buscando la mejor opción para lo que quería, finalmente encontré Tamwood, y encontré el curso que buscaba.

Yo digo que trataré de describir mi experiencia por que realmente necesitas vivir la aventura para conocer de lo que estoy hablando. Necesitas conocer a la gente, conocer los lugares y mejorar tu inglés en el mejor ambiente posible. No te arrepentirás.

Yo he probado diferentes cursos y productos que ofrece Tamwood, Y también he probado ambos campus, Whistler y Vancouver. Ambos son muy buenos y diferentes uno del otro así que es fácil encontrar tu opción adecuada en el lugar adecuado.

Vancouver una ciudad hermosa y muy moderna que puede ofrecerte la vida citadina que estas buscando, y en cambio Whistler es el lugar perfecto para deportes y vida natural donde puedes hacer lo que te gusta aprendiendo inglés al mismo tiempo. ¿Algo mejor que esto? No lo creo.

No pierdas la oportunidad toma el chance de vivir los mejore momentos de tu vida aprendiendo inglés y haciendo lo que a ti te gusta, te lo dije, no te arrepentirás.

Comments: Hello, I arrived in Vancouver, Canada in June, 2009. I finished my junior university semester of junior from university in Korea. After that, I decided to develop my ability for my future. My first purpose for coming to Vancouver was to study English and to get more job experience about a job for 8 months.

Tamwood International College is not a huge school like other international institutes. There are about 100 students in this school. It has a special advantage because it is a small institute. When I came to school the first day, I felt very comfortable. Actually, I always got a lot of pressure about studying before I came to this school. However, all students seemed to enjoy their school and were smiling all the time. I was very impressed that various national students got together in the lobby whenever they had a break time and got to know each other. Sometimes they made interesting plans. If you are a freshman in the school, you can participate in activities that the school organizes everyday for students which gives you a chance to make new friends. Also it was of help that I could always consult with a coordinator about my problems related to living in a foreign country and classes. In my opinion, anyone who studied strictly in Korea can get encouragement from Tamwood International College because of their close relationships.

Tamwood International College 는 다른 어학원처럼 대규모는 아니었습니다. 총 학생수가 약 100명 가량 되는 소규모 학교이지만, 나름대로의 장점들이 많습니다. 가장 먼저 학교에 도착해서 느낀 것은 ‘편안함’이었습니다. 처음에 어학연수에 대한 부담감을 안고 학교에 들어섰는데, 학생들 모두 항상 밝은 얼굴로 신나게 웃는 모습이 인상적이었습니다. 다양한 국적의 친구들이 쉬는 시간마다 로비에 모여 스스럼없이 친구가 되고, 자체적으로 모임도 만들어 활동하고 있습니다. 학교에 처음 온 신입생이라면, 학교에서 주관하는 방과후 활동에 자유롭게 참여하여 친구를 만들 기회도 있습니다. 또한 저에게는 수업에 대한 고민이나 타지 생활에 대한 어려움 등, 갖가지 문제들에 대해서 언제든지 담당 선생님들과 상담하여 해결할 수 있다는 점이 큰 도움이 되었습니다. 한국에서의 딱딱하고 엄격한 수업, 학교 생활에 지쳐있는 학생이라면 Tamwood 에서의 가족 같은 ‘친밀함’이 새로운 자극제가 될 수 있을 것이라고 생각합니다. Comments: I don't have works to describe how good was my experience in Tamwood. I lived in Vancouver for 4 months (I studied for two months, and worked for two months in a internship program). Was a great experience, because Tamwood is more than a school, it's like a big family. When I arrived in Vancouver my objective was learn English and get some work experience in my career, so I choose the internship program, and was a great decision, because I could improve my English, learn many thinks about the Canadian way to work in my career, and upgrade my resume to help me a find a good job in my country. Comments: I came to Canada with Working Holiday Visa, and I am working at a café right now. When I came to Canada, I didn't have much confidence for English Skills so that I studied at Tamwood for 8 weeks. The reason I chose Tamwood was that my agent counselor told me Tamwood has less Asian students. As a matter of fact, there are not so many Japanese students (about 20% when I was at Tamwood) that I could easily put myself into English Only environment. There are also so many opportunities to make new friends through weekly big events and monthly pub nights. I actually made so many friends not only from Asia but also from Latin America and Europe, and I am still contacting with them through Facebook.

It was hard to find a job in Vancouver. I think it was hard because there were less job openings during my job hunting. Before I found a job, I visited Tamwood almost every day. Tamwood staffs were so helpful and they gave me so many suggestions for resume and for keys to find a job. Tamwood also helped me to keep my motivation high, because I could join Tamwood School Activities and have fun with my friends even after my graduation. Tamwood has really great atmospheres welcoming all new and old students anytime. It was great school for me, a shy person.

I cannot visit Tamwood as often as before, but there is somebody who knows me and they gave me a big smile and hello every time I visit Tamwood,

ワーホリVISAでカナダへ来て、現在、カフェにて働いています。渡加する時点で英語力にあまり自信がなかったので、8週間の語学カレッジとしてここを選びました。 ここを選んだ理由は、エージェントの紹介で「アジア人の割合が少ない」という理由だったためです。 実際、他の学校に比べてTAMWOODは日本人の割合が少なく（僕が入った時は生徒数全体の2割程度）、自分の周辺を英語環境にするのに役立ちました。 また、毎週催されるイヴェントや月に一度のパブナイトなど、友達を作る催しがいっぱいです。 僕は実際にここでたくさんのオキシデンタルの友達を作り、彼らのほとんどが帰国してしまった今でもFacebookで連絡を取り合っています。

These decisions are so important that they can mean the difference between success or failure in your personal and professional goals, and at the end, this also means lost of time and money. La elección de una escuela en el extranjero es tan importante como la elección de una universidad o una carrera. Comments: Before I came to Canada, choosing a school was one of the most difficult things for me. But a lot of nice friends, teachers and the enjoyable environment reassured me that my choice was not bad. At first, I had difficulty adapting to new circumstances. But all those things helped me adapt to everything in Canada. Studying in Tamwood was a kind of different experience because I was accustomed to a cramming style education in Korea. Every class in Tamwood was fun and chatty.

Also, I want to say that you can have more chances to get along with the students from all over the world than in any other school. Tamwood is not a big school so it's easy to be in contact with all the students.

Moreover, Tamwood presents very flexible curriculums. I registered for only 20 weeks of ESL courses but I could experience both Business and TOEFL classes. For such a short period, I was able to achieve more than I expected and I really recommend you studying at Tamwood.

처음에 캐나다에 왔을 때는 새로운 환경에 익숙해지는게 힘들기도 했지만 탬우드에서 공부하고 생활하면서 점점 적응할 수 있었습니다. 한국의 주입식 교육에 익숙했던 저에게 탬우드는 새로운 경험이었고 모든 수업이 즐겁고 그 수업마다 많은 이야기를 주고 받을 수 있었습니다. 탬우드에 오면 벤쿠버에 다른 어떤 학교보다도 세계 곳곳의 친구들과 어울릴 기회가 많다고 생각합니다. 탬우드가 그렇게 큰 학원이 아니기 때문에 학교의 모든 친구들과 쉽게 어울릴 수 있다는 장점이 있습니다. 또 한가지 말씀드리고 싶은건 제 경우 학원을 등록할 때 ESL을 20주만 끊어 왔는데 여기와서 비즈니스와 토플 클래스로 일부 변경이 가능해서 더 많은 것을 체험할 수 있는 기회가 되었습니다.

Comments: The reasons I chose Tamwood were that Tamwood has students from so many different countries and it arranges a job for Paid Work Program. In Tamwood Vancouver, there are students not only from Latin America but also from European countries. There is a pool table in Tamwood School Lounge so that I could easily make friends from different countries, in my case especially Belgian friends. I really enjoyed playing and studying for 3 months at Tamwood.

I took English COOP Program (Paid Work Program), because I wanted to work in English speaking work environment with my Working Holiday Visa. Before my graduation, Tamwood Work Coordinator provided me Work Seminar including how to write a resume and how to take a job interview. I was so nervous at the first job interview that I couldn't pass it. However, I had a review and more practices for a job interview with Tamwood Japanese Counselor and Work Coordinator, and I had a job at a grocery store in Vancouver.

I had a great experience with my COOP, because it was so different from Japan. Customers have different backgrounds and speak English with their own accents, and they don't hesitate asking me questions. I obviously had to speak English with my coworkers, and I was required to explain goods clearly and efficiently to customers.

Moreover, I really appreciate Tamwood Japanese Counselor who always sincerely listened to my problem even after I graduate Tamwood.

Because Tamwood has a good student supporting system, Tamwood is the great school for COOP and Internship Program.

僕がTamwoodを選んだ理由は、多国籍な学校であることと仕事を斡旋してくれるプログラムがあることの２つです。実際学校には、南米系からヨーロッパ系まで色々な国籍の人がいて、ヨーロッパ系ではベルギーの子と友達になる機会も多かったです。ラウンジにビリヤード台があるのでそこでビリヤードしながら、フランス語訛りの英語とかブラジル訛りの英語とかメキシコ訛りの英語とか色々な英語に触れることができました。僕はちょうど中間のクラスでしたが、３ヶ月間楽しく過ごすことが出来ました。

そのあとに、折角ワーキングホリデーでカナダに来ているので、英語環境の現地のお店で働きたいという希望があったので、coop-programを取りました。ここでレジュメの書き方とか面接の受け方とかレクチャーを受けて、お店の面接に行ったのですが、初めての英語での面接はガチガチに緊張して、実は最初のお店で面接失敗して採用してもらえませんでした。そこでもう一度、コーディネーターのスタッフや日本人のスタッフと相談し、レジュメから面接の受け方などをもう一度練習して、次のお店中小規模の八百屋の面接に挑戦した結果採用となりました。

そこで働いたわけですが、日本と違い、様々な人種の方がいて、みんな分からないことは積極的に質問してきますし、同僚とも英語で会話しないと仕事になりませんから、人にしっかりと説明したり、意思疎通をとることなど、本当にいい経験をさせてもらいました。

また仕事で悩んだり、他にも仕事探そうかと考えているときも、もう学校を卒業したあとでも、親身に相談に乗って、アドバイスをくれる日本人スタッフのヤスには本当に感謝しています。

My stay in the school was short but so rewarding. I'm already sad to think that next week I'm going to leave all my friends and my foster family here. I really think that Tamwood has something special. The atmosphere is amazing thanks to all the fantastic teachers who just try their best to make your stay in Vancouver unforgettable, and of course, all the students with which you'll have a lot of fun! Si vous voulez améliorer votre anglais et profiter un maximum de votre séjour à Vancouver, juste un conseil : allez étudier à Tamwood. Mon passage à l'école fut de courte durée mais tellement enrichissant. Le fait de penser que la semaine prochaine je quitterai tous mes amis et ma famille d'accueil me rend déjà triste. Je pense vraiment que Tamwood possède quelque chose de spécial. L'ambiance est super grâce notamment aux profs qui font tout leur possible pour rendre votre séjour inoubliable et, bien sûr, grâce aux étudiants avec qui, vous passerez de très bons moments! The reason why I took FCE course is that I regarded it as an effective lesson to learn basic skills of English. Moreover, the certificate from Cambridge is available to guarantee your English level if you pass the FCE exam.

Tamwood provides us very good environment at FCE course. The number of students in the course is limited so that the teacher can train us to the last detail. Anne, our teacher, is so charming teacher, and is really good at teaching, who is one of the best I've ever met. Her lesson is well organised and hands-on. You may take practice exam every day and the lesson will be based on that paper. Do you think it sounds boring? After you actually do it again and again, you'll find it helpful and motivating because you'll see your progress, not only weak points.

Also, I could make precious friends in the class because we had spent 3 months being together and had striven to get to the same goal, FCE certificate. Instead of being hard-working in the class, we enjoyed our free time such as after school and weekends. What I remember the most is a home party in which we cooked our country food. I'll never forget the taste of chicken stroganoff which one of my Brazilian friends cooked for us. 3 months are long, but short! I definitely recommend you this course to spend precious time and get a certificate and priceless experience in Tamwood.

こんにちは。タムウッドに通って８か月以上になる高木聡子です。私がFCEコースを受講したきっかけは、日本人コーディネーターのYasuさんからのアドバイスでした。FCEはリーディング・ライティング・文法・リスニング・スピーキングと５種類もの科目があり、他の検定と比べ、英語を実際に使えるのだということをより証明してくれるように思いましたし、何よりも英語をあらゆる角度から学ぶにはとてもいい機会だと思い、受講することにいたしました。 FCEコースについて特筆すべき点はクラス環境の良さだと思います。ESLでは３科目の授業を受けるため、毎時限クラスを移動し、先生と生徒も学力に応じて変わる方法を取っています。一方、FCEは資格検定用ということで、生徒数も少人数に制限され、熟練した先生が一日中一つのクラスを教えるという方法がとられています。そのため、先生は全生徒がついてきているのか確実にチェックしてとことん教えてくれます。

私達のクラスを受け持って下さったAnneは経験とトレーニングを積んだ素敵な先生で、私にとって最高の恩師です。生徒の成績だけでなくメンタル面まできちんとフォローしてくれる先生で、心配症の私の相談によくのってくれました。優しく厳しく、そしておちゃめな良い先生です。授業はとても綿密に組まれていて確実に成果を出すことができるし、とても実践的です。毎日一科目ずつの練習問題をうけて、それの見直しという形で授業も進んでいきます。毎日スコアを目にして自分の伸び具合や欠点を確認できるというだけでなく、次々と知っている単語が増え、解ける問題が自然と増えていく点がとても気に入っ Name: Yuleidy Da Mata

Ich habe nach einer kleineren Sprachschule gesucht. Nach meinem Sprachaufenthalt bei Tamwood, denke ich dass ich eine sehr gute Entscheidung getroffen habe, weil die Lehrer wissen, welches Programm am Besten zum Schueler passt und die Unterrichtsstunden an das individuelle Level eines jeden Schuelers angepasst werden. Comments: I made the decision to study English at Tamwood in Canada. Being a Tamwood student helps me communicate across language and culture. I had a hard time to express myself when I first arrived in Canada. I only used vocabulary to communicate with others. At the time, my classmates and teachers were kind to help and encourage me. It was a valuable time to learn about different cultures from all over the world. Sometimes, it was hard to say good bye to close friends, but I always make new friends. Every morning, I am looks forward to going to school.

한국을 떠나 여행이 아닌 타국에서의 공부를 결정한 후 내가 오게 된 곳이 바로 캐나다 탬우드이다. 언어와 문화의 차이로 걱정이 많았던 내게 탬우드라는 학교는 그런 문제들을 깨끗히 씻어 주는 곳이였다. 나의 의사 표현조차 제대로 표현하기 힘들었던 처음, 짧은 단어들로 나열하는 대화밖에 할 수 없었고, 그때마다 친절한 친구들과 선생님들이 많은 도움을 주었다. 그들의 도움으로 인해 이제는 장난도 치고 웃고 떠들며, 잘 적응해 나갈 수 있었던 것 같다. 가족같은 분위기의 학교 속에서 다양한 국적의 친구들과 어울리면서 그들의 문화 또한 배울 수 있는 소중한 시간들이었다.
때론 정들었던 친구들과의 이별때문에 많이 아쉽기도 했지만 또 다른 친구들을 만나면서 정을 나눌 수 있어서 영어를 배운다는 스트레스보단 함께 어울리며, 생활한다는 즐거운 마음이었다. 그로인해 내게 등교길은 새로운 하루의 시작에 대한 희망으로 부풀어 있을 수 있었다. 방과 후엔 아름다운 경치가 있는 산에서 엑티비티를 즐기며 학교 친구들과의교류로 인하여 영어를 한층 더 가깝게 받아 들일 수 있는 기회였다. 소중한 추억과 경험 그리고 친구들을 만나게 해 준 탬우드의 선택이 내겐 큰 행운이다. 탬우드로 인해 캐나다는 내게 더 이상 걱정이 쌓인 타국이 아닌 잊지 못할 소중한 나라가 될 것 같다. 다시 한번 큰 선물을 준 탬우드에 깊이 감사한다.

Hello, I am Choi, Seo. I have been studying at Tamwood since March 2008. I have finished my third year of university in Korea and I have been here for three months. TAMWOOD is not such a big school but I have had great opportunities to make many friends from all over the world. It also provides me high quality programs and good activities.

I am taking the English Co-op program at Tamwood. Based on what I learn from school, I use and expand my English skills through my work place, where I meet English speaking customers and co-workers.
