ACCOMMODATIONS AND MEALS
Summer - Huron University, London Ontario - Residential And Host Family
Huron Accommodations and Meals
Residence
Students live in either a private or twin room, and room assignments are made based on age, nationality and date of registration. Students are housed by age and gender on different floors with shared facilities on each floor. Students sharing double rooms will be assigned to a room with a student of a different nationality whenever possible. Tamwood counsellors live with the students to provide 24 hour supervision. Meals are catered by the College dining services and include three nutritious meals and an evening snack every day. The residence, the cafeteria, the classrooms and the sports facilities are located adjacent to each other making walking time between classes, activities and meal times minimal.
Host Family Accommodation
Students who are 14 to 18 years of age have the option of staying with a Canadian host family. All of our homestays are carefully inspected and the families are interviewed before a student is placed with them. The host families provide a private or double room and two meals per day (lunch is eaten on campus except on Sundays when host families provide lunch). Host families will not provide babysitting services so students who choose to live with a host family must be mature enough to be left alone on occasion at the host family's residence and to take public transit on his/her own.
Students who live off campus do not take part in the evening activities or the Sunday activities organized by Tamwood for students living on campus, except one evening a week when they are invited to take part in the weekly camp disco. Students living off campus do take part in the full day excursion every Thursday.
