International Business English Program
Combines
specialized classes in International Business English communication
skills and concepts with optional general English language
skill workshops. This course is designed to give students
the English skills they need to work effectively in today's
global market place. English skills and vocabulary are developed
through exercises, case studies, role plays and research on
business topics including: I.T., finance, accounting, marketing,
advertising, sales, negotiation, business practices, and cultural
comparisons in business operations and Grammar. Visits to
businesses may be arranged during the course.
Specific Business English Classes
Business Writing Skills
Focuses on teaching new grammar and writing skills and on
the important application of these skills through reading,
writing and communicative grammar exercises based on business
themes. You learn how to write accurate and effective business
conversations such as letters, faxes, memos, email, resumes,
reports, etc.
Business Communication Skills
Focuses on language usage through discussions, role-plays,
presentations, debates, interviews, listening, speaking and
pronunciation exercises. You will work individually and in
small groups.
Business Concepts
Practice and develop all of your English skills as you learn
about different business concepts through discussion and reading
of business journals, articles, newspapers, documents and
reports. You will work individually and in small groups. Class
work includes discussions, projects, presentations, case studies
and field trips.
Language Workshops
Each Language Workshop focuses on one skill area, allowing
students to quickly improve their skills in that area. The
following workshops are offered on a rotating basis. Semi-Intensive
students (and students in Full-time in the winter only) can
mix and match the Workshops below according to their level
of English and length of course. Students are assigned to
a workshop after their placement test based on their English
level, needs assessment and start date. Workshops offered
vary according to time of year.
